The Sonic
Maps project is currently in development.
It is an exploration of hidden urban audio spaces and is an attempt to
map out an acoustical geography.
The first sonic map is of San Francisco although more are planned. In
addition to the mapping process
this realization of the project will allow the listener to create their
own urban audio environment by mixing
the sounds together and adjusting their levels in the mix.
Currently the audio is implemented through quicktime - mixing may be achieved
via the quicktime control
with the speaker icon. The next version
of the map will be done in Flash which will allow greater control of
the audio streaming and a
better mixing interface.
