Space Bunny Goes Shopping was the story of an extraterrestrial
rabbit and her friends. In this project kids created a comic
book of the story with themselves as actors. Each child then
got a copy of the book at the end of the day.

The project was realized by using a live video feed and various
premade virtual props that were superimposed onto the video.
The kids also made some props that were scanned in and also
introduced over the video. One person controlled the video
and brought on the virtual props as required. The software
was designed so that the props could also have different types
of autonomous movement such as floating around, accelerating,
bouncing around the screen, etc.
The project ran as follows:
1. The kids sat in a circle and heard the story of Space
Bunny. The live video feed was running and the virtual props
were shown at appropriate moments.
2. They were asked what other things they might see in the
story. They they set about drawing these things (planets,
stars, aliens, etc.).
3. These new graphics were scanned and imported into the
software during the lunch break.
4. Roles were then allocated and the story was acted out
using real and virtual props. Key scenes were captured to
become pages in the comic book.
5. These captured images were made into the Space
Bunny comic book which was given to all the kids.
