The Galaxy was the Angry
Monkey presentation shell application. It was designed
(by myself) to show our capacity to innovate and use new
technological ideas. In it's original form it was controlled
entirely via speech recognition, the presenter wearing
a wireless microphone. However a keyboard based
mode of interaction and a mouse based form of interaction
were also implemented.

for a demo version. You may need to install the Shockwave
plugin.
Notes for usage.
(1) Clicking and dragging anywhere will spin the galaxy.
(2) Clicking on a star and typing the first letter of it's
name will select it.
(3) Double-clicking or hitting the space bar will give you
the deeper content of the selected star (if there is any).
(4) Ideas are classified as either "products", "companies"
or "entertainment". Typing "c", "e"
or "pr" will reveal all the stars in the particular
category. Typing "z" will reveal all stars.
Technical notes:
As a shell, it contained no knowledge of what it was going
to present. At run time it would traverse a directory structure
and work out what it had to show. All the speech recognition
keywords were derived from the file names. The presence of
deeper level content was worked out on the fly together with
the content type (Director movie, Flash movie or Quicktime
movie). This proved to be a system that someone with no technical
knowledge could update to make their own custom presentation.
There is also a key combination that would print out a cheat
sheet of voice commands and instructions.
