| The
Lord of the Rings extended edition DVD of "The Fellowship
of the Ring" came with two experiences on the ROM
side. These were based on the seeing stones (the "palantirs")
used for communication between Saruman and Sauron in
the film. The first of these was called "The
Character Palantir". This was a way of understanding
the relationships between the different characters in the
films. It also allowed access to a series of portrait
of the actors (only publicly available through here and
allowed them to be printed out). Click here for an image
of the Character Palantir.
The second experience was the "Cast and Crew Palantir".
This was more or less a filmography but one where (1) 2 or
3 actors careers might be compared with each other for shared
overlaps and (2) the filmography was displayed in a proportional
chronological order. Click here
for a version of the Cast and Crew Palantir. Please note
that this was designed for PC on a broadband connection.
On the Mac side is a minor bug in Safari with Director 3D
content that will cause a display problem.
